Can't compile with Cygwin....

Can't compile with Cygwin....

Post by Unspoken_Magi »

This IS OS related.
I need this to compile my OS, and I need a reasonable answer. Not just "reinstall Cygwin."
Please don't move this, the people here in the OS forums definitely know more about Cygwin(and actually use it) rather than those who use MSVC over in General Programming.

I tried to compile the GNU binutils for ARM-ELF, but I get some obscure errors..

Packages I have installed:
ash
autoconf
autoconf-devel
autoconf-stable
automake
automake-devel
automake-stable
base-files
base-passwd
bash
binutils (with source)
bzip2
cygwin
diffutils
fileutils
findutils
gawk
gcc (with source)
grep
libbz2_1
libiconv2
libintl1
libintl2
libncurses5
m4
make
mktemp
patch
pcre
perl
sed
sh-utils
termcap
texinfo
textutils
w32api
_update-info-dir

BASH commands:
mkdir ~/binutils
cd ~/binutils
/usr/src/binutils-20030307-1/configure -v --target=arm-elf
make all install

Error:
/bin/sh ./../ylwrap "" arparse.y y.tab.c arparse.c y.tab.h arparse.h -- -d
-d: not found
make[3]: *** [arparse.c] Error 1

I have no idea why the "--" is in there..... it seems to be screwing it up..

Anyone here get binutils and GCC to compile correctly on Cygwin? If you did, tell me how.

Just use the GCC and binutils that Cygwin comes with, and use objcpy.

That doesn't magically turn i386 code into ARM code!
I don't just want the ELF format.. the actual code has to be ARM.

There should be some pre-built Cygwin ARM binaries around. Look up some Gameboy Advance programming sites; they should point you towards some ARM development tools.

Yeah, but it's the wrong version of GCC and I need to compile for ARM, PowerPC, IA-64 and some others...

well...for the ARM target you can use GBA precompiled gcc/binutils.

As for the rest you need to build seperate gcc/binutils.
