Hi, does anyone have any PMode VESA code, code that has aleast 640x480x256?
If no one does, then does anyone have any PMode code for controling the HD? ( read, write )
Thank you,
I've been searching on the two subjects, and Google can't find anything.

Re:VESA in Pmode code
see harddisk,ports...
anyway, its not working fine yet...
it can read any sector at cylinder0 - head 0,
but it can not read one at cylinder 1 (except for the first one, 0, if I read sec 63 at cyl 0 before reading that one)
so the example from nondot is probably not working fine either (reading using ports)
'cause that does about the same as I do...
I haven't found much about the harddisk controller, only about using ports :/
(and some stuff about detecting the ata drive and writing ports which I've implented in my (c) module for the harddisk already)

For getting information from hard drives, I suggest that you take a look at the ATA-ATAPI specification or some of the documents relating to hard disks on http://www.nondot.org/sabre/os

Re:VESA in Pmode code
Well, I think that v86 mode would help me, because I know real-mode int instructions.
Does anyone have any v86 code that sets v86 that's not John Fine's, because he used his own version of NASM?
I tried to use Tim's info on it, but there's no code to c/p and mess with.

Re:VESA in Pmode code
Have you looked at Alexei Frounze's V86 code?
BTW: you won't find any V86 code that you can copy and paste directly into your own OS, because a V86 monitor is very dependant on your own kernel's features -- that's why I didn't put much code in my tutorial.
