Key sets that you use
Key sets that you use
As for the practical section of testing a big keyboard function I'm intending to write, I'd like to know what keymaps everybody uses, and how the keys are arranged. I know the International QWERTY and Dvorak layouts, I've seen the QWERTZ once, but am not sure whether the Z is the only difference, typed on AZERTY once but not sure whether the q/a, w/z and m/; switches are the only ones, or that they are standard, and I've only found references to swedish, german and spanish dvoraks (http://users.one.se/liket/svorak/ , http://www.goebel-consult.de/de-ergo/pics.html and http://www.mwbrooks.com/dvorak/SpanishDvorak.gif)
Now what I'm interested in, are these correct? Do you or anybody you know use them?
Does anybody use dvorak or ANSI dvorak?
Do you use something else and can you place a keymap of it here ?
TIA, Candy.
PS: If you'd be so kind, could you include unicode char encodings for the awkward ones on your keyboard? Thanks.

Re:Key sets that you use
Ok, but what's happened to your other keys? On my (int.) keyboard you'd be missing the [/{ key,the ;/: key and the '/" key. They seem to be quite valuable in programmingbubach wrote: mine looks like this (the normal chars..):

Thanks for the map

Here's a cool site where you can view all the keyboard types supported by Windows:

Re:Key sets that you use
Indeed, thanks a lot! I've printed out dutch (the yucky nonstandard one), swedish and russian already, and am going to do french & german tonight. That should do for the next release (0.0.3, set for 25-june, with module support & if I make it a keyboard driver with these maps).bubach wrote: Thats nice Tim! It seems correct for Swedish..![]()

Re:Key sets that you use
The belgian keymap looks like
shifts gives you
the '~' is ALTG=, [ and ] are ALTG^ and ALTG$ respectively,
pipe, @, # are ALTG1, ALTG2 and ALTG3 respectively, round braces ALTG9 and ALTG0, backslash is ALTG<
You can get almost all the keyboard maps from /etc/X11/xkb/symbols/<mapcode> of any Unix distro.
producing C datas out of this stuff shouldn't be too hard with Perl ...
Code: Select all
?&?"'(??!??)-
azertyuiop^$
qsdfghjklm??
<wxcvbn,;:=
Code: Select all
1234567890?_

Re:Key sets that you use
It's quite close from the french keymap, indeed, but there are differences (subtle, but still differences would say my sister ;P), for instance the 'backslash' and the underscore that are not mapped at the same place.Looks like the French keymap
