DT's Get Loaded Wrong

DT's Get Loaded Wrong

Is there a difference between lgdt (286) and lgdt(386), if so.. how do you make sure you use the correct one. Because i notice that not only in bochs, but on the real cpu the address of my desc tables is always shifted left 16 bits and fiddled around.

i really think this should be something with the way you set up the GDT register content ... afaik, there is no difference between the 286 and 386 version of these instructions ...

Check your code once again and compare it against working pmode setting up - like TRAN start32 tutorial, or the protected mode tutorials available throught the .:QuickLinkz:. thread or even SOS sourcecode from the Clicker project...
