LavaOS – A minimalist, developer-friendly Unix-like OS with window manager

Hey OSDev community,

I’ve been working on LavaOS, a small Unix-like operating system, designed to be developer-friendly and minimal.

Key features:

• Minimal kernel with full framebuffer graphics and window manager.

• Initramfs is supported. All apps run separately from the kernel.

• Dynamic shell and terminal emulator – no hardcoded commands.

• Friendly panic handling, user-readable messages, similar to Windows BSOD.

I built it as a learning and experimental OS, but it’s actually usable for testing kernel features, experimenting with graphics, and practicing OS development.
