OS Name: xous (just the message passing kernel)
Project name: Betrusted
Source code: https://github.com/betrusted-io
To run it, you need the custom silicon that bunnie and xobs have designed. They're demoing it at 39C3 on Dec 28, 2025: https://fahrplan.events.ccc.de/congress ... ing-system
Or emulation is possible, see https://betrusted.io/xous-book/
My personal take: the word "trusted" has been taken over by newthink, so it now means "the device can be trusted to betray the user at the wishes of the corp elite." But since I am not participating in this project, I applaud their accomplishment.

Re: Betrusted xous
I've long been looking at alternative, open platforms to have a computing basis that I can trust entirely. This project is interesting to me in that regard.
The biggest issue I've found is getting actual hardware. FPGAs aren't able to reach the performance or efficiency of an ASIC. Of course, getting an ASIC made is much more expensive (without volume). I do see they have a MCU, but it doesn't seem useful as a laptop/desktop processor. The closest thing I've found to meet my needs is RaptorCS, but their systems are $$$.
I learned about the Libre-SOC project recently. They're apparently aiming to get ASICs made of a SoC.
