There is a new color theme that registered members can choose from. Go to your Profile settings and towards the bottom there is a setting called Board Style, change it to mtDark to try out the new color scheme. I need to clean up some of the jagged edges of the default phpBB logos but I think it looks pretty good. Let me know what you guys think.

Here are some screen caps:

I've declared it new theme/style awareness weekend :) Monday the default theme will go back to subSilver. If you are logged in all the time this doesn't effect you because you get to pick your own board style in your profile.

Yeah, I sat down and read through a bunch of threads on MT once and noticed how easy it was on the eyes so when I went to make I dark colored theme for osdev I played around with using the same colors. I figured no one would mind since MT is going away, I did ask DF first and he was cool with it.

Well I've switched my default theme to mtDark and several other people have too so I'll consider my theme awareness weekend a raving success :P The default theme is back to subSilver.

Quite the contrary for me, I think the MT colors are very annoying to look at. A "darker" blue would be nicer, some that contrasts a little better. It does fit the bill of "Mega Tokyo" in the truest sense, however, something that is very annoyingly anime-ish :P

It is nice to accomodate that crowd, none the less.

Well I'm more then open to adding other color styles. I don't want to add anything that completely changes the look because upgrades become a total pain if I edit or add files but new color styles are just a css file in the long run. There are some demos at http://www.phpbb.com/styles/demo.php (drop down at the top). Maybe something like subBlack? If you see any there or elsewhere just point it out and I'll try to add it as soon as I have a couple of free minutes.

As a long time MT-er, I for one appreciate the effort. :)

No it's not sad, just different. Perhaps better, think captain planet. Two OS Dev boards joint together.. with our powers combined, captain OS DEV!! or something.

:)

I've changed out some of the graphics. This should take care of the jagged graphics when using the mtDark theme. Plus I think they just look better too :) If you aren't seeing the change you may need to hold down Shift while clicking reload because your browser is caching the old graphics.

I can tell. The second image on the top-right hand corner of posts is gone.

Gone or New? I didn't remove, just replaced. There should be a new image on the top-right hand corner of posts but that's related to the remember unread topics enhancement that I added. Try shift-refresh or clear you browser cache.

There is a second Mega-Tokyo like them to choose from called mtDark2. Looks a lot more like the original MT.

Cool!
If you could increase the font size in the theme to match the MT default font size it would be even better.
