The Time and Date page, section Which Time, discusses whether the battery-backed clock should be treated as set to local time or UTC. It concludes with this statement: Quote: The stupid thing to do is to force the clock to be only one way or the other, as both Linux and Windows do. I recall Linux gaining an option to set which mode the clock is in many years ago, possibly as far back as 2001, perhaps even earlier. Before I fix the wiki page, can anyone say whether it still has the option? |

Yes, Linux still supports setting the hardware clock to the local time zone. Windows supports setting the hardware clock to UTC, too. |

Both Windows and Linux have a way to change this. For Windows there is a registry key somewhere (sorry I don't remember the specifics). |
