After many remarks about the reachability of the current wiki contents and MTfaq's version, I reconstructed the index in the style that was used previously (Actually, I used a backup copy :D)

Anyway, the current version is here: http://www.osdev.org/wiki/User:Combuste ... _Main_Page

Comments welcome, as always.

P.S. I feel sorry for the people using the RSS feed

though it provides a very large overview, i find it more disturbing and less user friendly.

I'm still partial to the small view. It provides everything, right there, in your face; no scrolling, no searching necessary. If you need an article, the 'more' link is more the capable.

That's just me though, and personally, I blame it on my love for simplicity. ;)

Hmmmm. At least for me, I think I see advantages in having both available.

It would be nice to have a normal main page the way it is and a detailed main page that looks like that one. Maybe there would be a way to get the wiki to pick the one you wanted based on user preference or something.

I like the expanded view. In my opinion, it is better. However, it would need to be optimised with all the 'important' (read: beginner) stuff at the top so they actually read it.

Any opposition for moving the stuff into the main namespace and add the chooser template to the main page? That way people can use whichever view they prefer.

Likewise. Having an option is always good. :)
