os projects list

Post by brain »

Hi all,

had a thought about the active projects list on the wiki,

i started pruning this and flagging up dead projects however i felt this may be a bit of a losing battle. I am sure every day or so someone else adds a new OS destined to never see a single release or any public code.

So, i thought why not make this section a seperate php script, rather than part of the wiki?
It could use the wiki's session to implement single-sign-on, but would maintain last updated dates properly etc, and could automatically flag up projects that may be abandoned on the page.

I wouldnt mind helping out with code for this if you dont have the time yourselves.

What do you think?

In my opinion. Leave it alone. Is better in the spot it is where everyone who knows this site can get to.

Why make it a separate section anyway? If its wiki, its informative, that's why its there.

Unless i misinterpreted your question, all that caught my eye was "i wanna move this somewhere else"

Or if your trying to make a separate list for active projects, its nearly impossible unless you have a date system for people to check in to keep it alive. Then again, people with giant projects are not going to come back to often, but It doesnt mean their project is dead however.
