Okay, I may seem like I am overreacting. If it was limited to one thread, that is one thing. No names here, but it follows around in every other thread. Some forum members seem unable to get a long without an argument of some sort. And then the innocent person is getting called a troll? I call that bullying. This has gone too far. Every other thread is overran by arguing. I have been trying to stop in its tracks. I hope it is working. But it is still a great big problem. I something needs to be done. People get away without a hitch with stuff on this site that would result in a banning on StackExchange or Reddit.

With all respect, why do you call that person innocent? I can't see that his posts were constructive at all, nor that they added any valuable information to topic (not only in that last one, but in general). Did he actually ever answered any question on this forum? But he is well-known for spreading misinformation, avoiding responsibility, using personal insults and provoking fights. That is the definition of a troll. So why do you think he is innocent? I'm not attacking you, I'm truly interested in your opinion.

I don't always agree with all the members true. Not naming them, but I can see that they are valuable members, I respect that they try to answer newcomer's questions the best they can, and even when we disagree we can have a polite conversation. I don't see this in that one member you're referring to. All the unpolite conversation are connected to him somehow.

Have no doubt, if you're trying to push the blame to the one who was actually the target of his attempted bully, then I'll raise my voice against unjustice. (And sorry if I misunderstood your post, but I think you're mistaken who is attacking who.)

Cheers,
bzt

I'm not going to go into anything here, but here is all I have to say. You both are equally as guilty.

I object! Here's some evidence:
https://forum.osdev.org/viewtopic.php?p=310889#p310889
https://forum.osdev.org/viewtopic.php?p=309846#p309846
https://forum.osdev.org/viewtopic.php?p=309987#p309987
https://forum.osdev.org/viewtopic.php?p=310049#p310049
https://forum.osdev.org/viewtopic.php?p=310720#p310720

Read these, and it is clear that who is trying to constantly derail the topics and who is posting personal insults. I'm not perfect either, I have a very strong opinion about things, and I've walked into his traps a few times, I admit.

But I always want my posts to be correct and informative by providing links and references or creating PoCs. I have put a lot on the table already, shared many FOSS projects and I offer a lot from my time to this community, while on the other hand that member who's name we don't spoke has literally nothing to show. I don't think you intended to offend me, but saying we are alike is a serious insult. I'm aware that wasn't your intention, so don't worry, no hard feelings. I just wanted you to know why I object.

Cheers,
bzt

Last words: Yes, I see Zaval starts the derailment. I guess maybe you all aren't equally as guilty :) . Zaval has gotten better, but I think when he posts inaccurate info, it would be best to just ignore it. Thanks for sharing your opinion, though! And yes, I meant no insult whatsoever.

I don't see how he was derailing the argument in the 1st post you mentioned...

Of course you don't. Let me help.

Question was:
Quote:
A System Partition can reside on any media that is supported by EFI Boot Services.
And he wrote:
Quote:
Also, dd'ing a GPT image would be a very bad idea.
That's not an answer to the question, is completely wrong and bad advice. Why? Because dd'ing an image has nothing to do with creating the image. Dd just writes the image to the device, it doesn't know nor care how the image was created, and writing device sectors isn't a "very bad idea", rather a necessary, unavoidable step that you simply can't omit.

Cheers,
bzt

bzt, you really aren't making a case here.

You have consistently shown that you tend to attempt to make facts out of your beliefs, and try to cast all blame away from you.

zaval isn't that provocative, and your reactions are much more provocative than his.

Take a step back and look at it objectively.

No it wasn't. I started the thread. The question was why my UEFI app would not start on my computer.

Overall, we can conclude that bzt needs to work on his argument game...

I should do the same. I'm a bit prone to emotional conclusions and flimsy rationalizations for them. And bzt is well justified in ripping them apart.

In contrast to bzt, I've never seen you use abusive language, nullplan. It's one thing whether bzt is right or wrong. Maybe he is right in one particular thread, maybe he isn't. That doesn't justify his harassment towards members of the forum. If I behaved at work like bzt does in this forum, I'd be fired within a month. I cannot understand why he is given free reign here, even though he did not improve his behavior after being banned once already.

+1, I don't get it either.

I refrain from even replying to his threads (or his own replies) as I don't want to deal with his reactions. It's time and energy consuming and goes absolutely nowhere. He is smart, knowledgeable and his contribution valuable. But his attitude makes it so that I don't want to deal with him, and so I don't.

+1
I'm relived to discover that other people had problems with bzt, in the past. I've spent so little time on this forum, that I didn't know any of that. If I only knew, I'd never even considered commenting on his post.
