Does your host support the file format? Do they support PHP? If they do, then I would make sure you are using the right mode for uploading it...although I don't think that should affect your ability to upload it (just your ability to use it). Wait for Chris to post. I'm sure he will know. I just got my board set up today!! Yay!

good luck,

Well remember that you have to upload the .ya file in Binary and the install.php file in ascii... if you still can't get the file to upload, download the safe mode version and install that one instead.

Well, first we need a few details about how and what you are using.

A lot depends on your webhost and how they allow you to transfer files.

With me, I was having problems for a while because I had to set up a MySQL database first, and didn't know. I don't know really how most webhosts handle this. You need to check out a faq from your web host and try to make sure that you are capable of doing everything you need to...make sure you check out the minimum requirements for YaBB too.

Now, how about uploading your files? FTP? Do you use the browser to put your files on your site or a program like CuteFTP?

Just how much DO you know? No one here wants to insult your intelligence. ;)

Um smartguy... yabbse will not work on a geocities site... they don't have php or mysql. There is a service that hosts YaBBSE boards for you though, http://boardnation.com

You can register a board with them and they host it for you. Joey uses boardnation as well.

Just for the heck of it, what is MySQL???
i have heard alot about it, but?? what is it??

and also, do you know where i can get a free php compiler??

I am unfamiliar with php and MySQL, i think i should stick to Java, JavaScript, HTML, and C/C++

You don't compile php, you just need a web server with php installed to use php files.

As for MySQL, it is a database which stores info, the best part of MySQL is it is free.
