I usually download one or two songs, and listen to them. If they suck, then the CD probably does too.

I am suprised that you can get some stiff of things like WInMX. I use trillian ok... I got Trillian Pro 1.0 off there with serial number for free! That is awesome!

typically i don't buy albums for just one or two songs.. that's what singles are for.

The problem with just downloading stuff and never buying the CD is that in an economy centered around product exchange, stuff that doesn't get bought doesn't get made. 'Course, a lot of CDs are grossly overpriced.

As for MP3's, I'll usually take 'em because they're more readily available, but the truth is that WMA's give equal or better quality at a lower bitrate, so most of the time a WMA that sounds the same as an MP3 will be smaller than the MP3. Whenever I take something off of a CD I own and put it onto the computer I encode it in WMA format.
