PostPosted: Mon Sep 16, 2002 3:55 am
I put a CD in the CD-ROM-station and now I can't open the station anymore, the computer says that there's... "...no CD-station connected with the computer"

What's wrong??!!!

How can I reconnect it?

Thanks

Jelle

Yaiks, there's many possibilities

1) IDE/Power-cable is loose -> Open your computer and check both ends of both cables that they are properly connected. This happened when I installed my burning CD-station.

2) Master/slave/(Don't remember this one's name) are not correct. E.g. This might occur if you have installed xtra stuff (new hd or something like that) and forgot set Master/slave/3 option-settings right.

3) BIOS-settings are not set properly. -> Check from BIOS that your computer recognises your CD-station, if not, set it.

4) If non of those ideas didn't help it's possible that your CD-station is just broken. Yeah it's shitty thing I know (nuuh, my DVD-station!!)

Best thing would be that if you've bought that and there's guarantee remaining you would take it for free repair

Problem solved!
I did nothing about it, but it opens/works again.

Thanks anyway

If it stops opening again, straighten a paper clip or something and poke it in the little hole in the front. Check the cables going from the CD drive to the power supply, if they are loose, tighten them (AFTER grounding yourself on something metal like the power supply) I know that the grounding step may not be necessary, but it's better to stay safe than be sorry.
