I actually log on to the chat and then just kind of hang out while I'm ostensibly programming. I'm there for HOURS!

The chat's not dying Kon-tiki. But you're right for some ways.

Sometimes, it's boring to some one who wants to talk but he/she left his computer for any reasons. (eating, the cat wants to leave the house) but they're not leave the chat.

Yes that chat room on my site, it has been around for a little while but not as long as the irc... the only thing I don't like about the irc one though is you have to have an irc program or use a special web browser program.
