This thread has gone too far. The OP is now probably going to jump off this forum and go to another one. We are already losing editors. Do we want to lose another one? Flame wars are becoming a new problem here, and something needs to be done before this goes to another explosion like what happened in 2018.

I hope the things are already calming down a bit.

What would you suggest how to react on Zaval's and Bzt's fights? Ban Zaval? Ban both? Relax and let them do their quarrel?

Greetings
Peter

I think the best thing to do is to just ignore people that only engage brawling and not proper debating :P
It's unfortunate that this topic ended up like this, because all of this didn't even bring one PROPER answer to the OP's question - really, if people start leaving this forum to go elsewhere, it's because of this kind of unnecessary fighting to know what feature or specification is the best - it's almost like belonging to a political party; and I can definitively say it's stupid at best :(

As long as bzt keeps true to his word, this should be settled. Just please, anyone who reads this: if someone engages in a war with you, for the sake of our sanity, do not feed them. Not trying to make orders, as I am not a mod. But I am getting tired of the bickering. I kindly ask the mods to split off the war part of the original thread, so the OP's question will remain intact.

Joining the fight (like I did) is meant friendly but perhaps adds to the problem not to the solution.

That just gave me an idea:

Maybe a forum reader who is annoyed by the fights writes a private message to the offender(s)? I think I will try that in the future.

Greetings
Peter

Yes, I've tried to be friendly too, but didn't worked out as planned.

The thing is, zaval made a valuable contribution to one of my projects, and I thought in return I should give him a chance for an intelligent conversation. I was wrong. I apologize to you for letting this go too far.

Cheers,
bzt

bzt and PeterX, you two meant no harm, so no harm has really been done. bzt and zaval will just have to disagree on GPT, ESP, and UEFI. It just is concerning to me as this is the last surviving OS development forum. This place and the IRC are keeping OSDev alive. I have observed old threads (like the Solar vs. Brendan flame war) and have seen the decline of OSDev. Most of the current mods aren't even active. For this reason, anything I my power I can do help OSDev.org, I will try to do to keep this place alive.
