He was now. ;-)

Because according to recent study (on Reddit), almost every conversation (if it's long enough) ends up by mentioning nazis in some way or another. :)

It is called "Godwin's law", which was promulgated in 1990, three years before the first webbrowser.

That would make it "recent" only for a very loose definition of the word. ;-)

This has been OT for most of its TL;DR length. Can we put the nail in the coffin?

Well, if we're talking about human history, then yes - it's very recent. :)
Didn't think that web was so popular in 1990 to give enough data for that kind of research.

There was no "web" in 1990. As I wrote, NCSA Mosaic did its first appearance in 1993.

What we had was Usenet. "Google Groups" for you young grasshoppers. And it was just as toxic as your average web-based discussion thread today. ;-)

Well, at least now I know that the grass wasn't greener then. :)

You need to be cautious about which free programs you download because that freeware program can end up costing you a bundle... some of these no-cost applications also have spyware or adware or other malicious code -- such as viruses, worms or so-called Trojan horses -- embedded inside. So sometimes when you download some freeware onto your computer via the Internet, malware can also sneak onto your machine. One result could be the destruction of your important files.

Not an issue of free vs. non-free; any software you execute could be malicious.

Besides, April Fool's joke...

Three months passed, it still makes me amused. :)

Seriously, I actually meant free software, where «free» is is a matter of freedom, not price.

Free as in free speech, not free beer.
