Hi everybody,

this is my very firsti post here.
Brief intro: I'm an Italian student, 22, and like many others I'm trying to develop an OS. I've been studing many books 'bout OSes, and now I'm following Bran's Kernel tutorial to set up a basic kernel.

Following this tutorial I can now boot my machine, write some chars and even handle interrupts and IRQs.

The problem is that a good 30% of the code is obscure to me.It talks about hardware architecture, GDTs, etc.

all these things are not treated in our textbooks (which are really more theorical) and I think that I'll never carry on with my project unless I study some hardware-related material.

Please anyone can point me to some tutorials/ebooks/webpages which treat the argument?

I sent a request to obtain hard copies of those documents. I have them...older version. I heard they aren't available anymore...but we never know.
