And you, good sir, take things too seriously.

For example we have Sortix, ToAruOS, etc. Just their releases are not approaching. :)

MenuetOS has just released v1.0 a few days ago.
BTW, it seems like a very good idea, having an OSDev magazine.

For news like the ones you mentioned, there's /r/osdev. If everybody would just post these sort of things there, we could have a perfect community-created magazine, with the best and most interesting posts voted to the top.

Thank you for the news and the source of them!

I think a hobby OS magazine could be fun/useful if it was edited by a really experienced programmer who had done such development for a number of years. But that is not the case here, and so I see no future for this project. The blind leading the blind is not a good situation.
Don't worry, I will always consult the experienced programmers here, I didn't reply just because I thought this topic is dead after that you said.

When can we expect the first issue? It seems a bit silly to announce it on SourceForge when the project is completely empty.

Forget about sourceforge! What sortie said is absolutely correct! See also filezilla reviews, specifically this under the username "glaux-osdev". It says it all. I will host the magazine on GitLab.

First of July maybe?

Then get rid of the SourceForge project. It makes the whole thing look amateurish; I'd hope this isn't a reflection of how the project is going to be managed, but I'll hold my judgement on that for the time being.

I look forward to it. It will be even more impressive if you manage a second issue.

Unfortunately, projects can't be removed before 90 days have passed since the registration. :(

Here is the GitLab project page.

Also, I plan the second issue for the first of October.

Is it just me, or is the idea of hosting a magazine on a code repository site a bit odd? Why not just a regular web site - perhaps a WordPress site - with a bit of nice design?

Maybe because WordPress is a sysadmin's nightmare?

On GitLab it can be reviewed and issues can be opened. How the experienced will know what it is going to be finally if it is on WordPress and can't be previewed by others?

Hope this is clear now,

So that's just a holding area where articles are collected and then the magazine itself will be published on a proper web site? That makes sense.

But you could, of course, have comments and issues on a WordPress site and it still seems more suitable for a magazine than a code repository. I don't quite understand what the issues with previewing a WordPress site would be.

Perhaps I'm a bit influenced because I come from a technical publishing background as well as a computing one, but I think that things like design and typography are important for a publication that is meant to be read (as opposed to code, which has a slightly different purpose). Content and presentation are both important factors for a magazine.

Anyway, I look forward to seeing the first two issues.

What about a traditional html/css/js/php site (written from scratch) instead of things like WordPress?

I'm all for that, and you can make a very nice looking site that way. But it does require a bit more work and make collaboration more difficult.

I do hope that the finished article isn't going to be hosted on a code repository; that would be a sure kiss of death IMO.

Maybe I will request a hosting server. The ideal solution would be chase to host it, though.
