should a compiler sub-forum be established here to build up a community before re-launching compdev?

That's probably the issue with compiler development: a lot (let's say 70%) want to get into it, but haven't yet. The other 30% are into it, know how they want to do it (compiler design, language design etc.). Those who already do it don't have the need to discuss anything - they already know exactly what they're doing. I only see a compiler sub-forum used if there were some more informations on the wiki, as then the 70% may consider getting started.
