Why was this thread http://forum.osdev.org/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=27337 locked moderator?

That was one of the more intelligent discussions on these forums, sad to see it got locked.

Glad to see the Moderators can still predict a flame-war.

First reply starts the butterfly effect.

The rest are replies that disagree with the first replies reasoning.

Then, the youngest of the forum join in and start pounding their chests claiming they know everything.

Then they are proven wrong, 70% of the viewing forum laughs behind their computer monitors.

Then names are called, and combuster comes in and straightens the kid(s out (or intentionally makes it worse with his knowledge and continuously proves them wrong, knowing they will get even more angry)

Sometimes it gets this far and gets locked

It's only happened hundreds of times.

+1 =D>
Infact Thanks to Combuster, for making this forum a "OSDev" forum.

Combuster isn't a moderator, there is a list of them right above this thread.

Moderators just pass judgement where needed, as they did here. End of story. Most other members are loud enough to give you the reason long before such intervention happens.

Why isn't Combuster a moderator? When I first joined OSDev forums I just assumed he was because of the way he contributed, until I saw the list.

The greatest form of trolling is not in the posts themselves, but getting an otherwise productive and informing post locked - thus stopping any useful discussion on the topic.

Gentlemen, in the case of All hail the GNU Order!, the troll won.

This would all be cleared up if the moderator who did the deed had explained why.
