Hello everybody. Just started to get into OS development. Seems like its going to take a lot of effort to get used to. Just finished Barebones and studied it forwards and backwards. The only thing I don't understand is the linker file. Anybody know any good resources to learn about those? Welp, on to the meaty skeleton tutorial.

Besides that, a little about me I guess.
-2nd year Comp Sci student
-I currently have a low level technician job in IT
-Planning to hopefully go into something dealing with AI
-Besides this type of stuff, I am also a musician and I am a news junky when it comes to politics

Nice to meet you all!

Welcome!

You can read about linker scripts here.

Ah, thank you. The script makes sense now.

Hello!

Like you OP, I just started doing OS dev a week ago after spending couple of years programming userspace applications in C and C++. I guess I could also list a couple of things about me.

  • I'm a 1st year Comp. Sci. and Maths student;
  • I'm French Canadian;
  • Also a musician and also hoping to get into AI stuff!

OP, it seems we're pretty similar. :) What instrument do you play?
